Ayia Napa which nowadays is transliterated in English language as Agia Napa has gained much popularity mostly for its sandy beaches. It is situated in the far eastern side of Cyprus. According to the local legend, the currently famous original icon got discovered unintentionally by one hunter who was looking for his prey. The original icon of Virgin Mary, upon discovery, was regarded as Virgin Mary of Napa. Ultimately it got shortened and is now known as Ayia Napa. The contemporary monastery, created in 1500, was developed surrounding the cave, in admiration of Ayia Napa's Virgin Mary. According to the native tradition, no one stayed within nearby environs of Ayia Napa until 1790. The inhabitants who first settled there were 20 men from Greece, Salonica and thus started Ayia Napa village. Recently, Ayia Napa has become tantamount with holidays, and attracts tourism from all around Europe particularly for it beaches, climate, and the newly emerged clubbing scene.
The weather of Ayia Napa is enjoyable as it has long summers and short mild winters. In the spring time the temperature may rise up to 140C and in March around 210C. Also March is the wettest month of the year.

Famous clubs of Ayia Napa are Play nightclub, its new and opened in 2007 and already featured BIG DJ's like Lisa Lashes, Judge Jules, tall Paul and Heartless Crew. Starskys club is a place for clubbers who love to dance to commercial music. It is pretty big in size and has a large bar downstairs. There are also 2 bars upstairs. Many say that Ayia Napa is not for kids. However, the fact is one of the finest pubs there is known as bedrock inn which is based on the Flintstones theme! The stuffs of this place are dressed like cavemen. They serve drinks and food to the guests and are the finest karaoke bar available in the resort of Ayia Napa. But the downside is that the kids have to leave the club at 11pm. So parents need to be careful about that.
