Almeria

Almeria is a city that is located in the Andalusia province of Spain. The city is located on the Mediterranean Sea on the south-eastern part of the country.

The city of Almeria offers a Mediterranean arid climate according to the Koppen climate classification system. The city has a precipitation level of below 250 mm and is the only city in Europe with this type of climate. The temperatures in Almeria on average are above 18 degrees Celsius year round. The summers are hot and the winters are warm, offering one of the warmest, sunniest, and driest climates through all of Europe. On average, there are 320 sunny days in the city.

The city of Almeria offers many things to see and do while visiting. The Alcazaba is one of the largest citadels built by the Arabs while in Spain. The construction of the Alcazba de Almeria began in 955 as ordered by Abderraman III. The construction was completed by Hayran, the king of Almeria in the 11th century.

The Cathedral is another place to visit in the city, with the appearance of a fortress, including towers and protected paths that were designed as security against pirates from the Mediterranean Sea. The cathedral was first designed to be a Mosque, but was converted to a Christian church.

Other places of interest throughout the city of Almeria include the Renaissance Church of Santiago, the Chanca, the Castle of San Cristobal, the Museum of Almeria, and the Paseo de Coches.
