Munich

 

Munich is one of the largest cities in Germany, only behind Hamburg and Berlin. The city was the host of the 1972 Olympics and is the capital of Bavaria, Germany. “Munchen mag Dich,” which means “Munich likes you” in English is the city’s motto, which they use to draw in tourists. The name Munich is derived from the word Munichen in Old High Germanic, which means “by the Monks place,” which comes from the Benedictine order of the monks who founded the city. 

The city offers a continental climate that is modified due to its close proximity to the Alps. The city is home to one of the most famous beer halls in the world Hofbrauhaus am Platzl. The beer hall displays the second largest tent at the annual Oktoberfest event that is held in the city. The event lasts for two weeks and attracts millions of visitors. Even though the festival is called Oktoberfest, the event actually occurs in September.
