The city of Tampa, Florida is the 54th largest city in the USA, and the 3rd largest city in Florida.  It is located on Florida’s west coast, 200 miles northwest of Miami.  Tampa has a very diverse economy that includes tourism, agriculture, construction, entertainment, technology as well as the major port of Tampa Bay.


Tampa’s climate is considered to be a humid subtropical climate, with warm and humid summers and drier winters.  High temperatures usually range between 18 and 35 degrees Celsius (65 and 95 Fahrenheit) year round.  While Tampa is known for its hot summers, the temperature has never officially reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius), with its record being 99 degrees Fahrenheit (37 Celsius).

Things to See and Do

Tampa contains some of the state of Florida’s best attractions, including the Florida Aquarium, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Lowry Park Zoo, as well as the recently opened Tampa Bay History Center and Tampa Museum.  Tampa is also known for having a very exciting nightlife as well as a diverse selection of great restaurants.  One vibrant district located in Tampa is Ybor City, one of only three National Historic Landmark Districts located in Florida.  Once made up of cigar factories worked by mostly Cuban cigar makers, in the 1990s Ybor City was revitalized and now attracts a very large number of visitors due to its wide variety of shops, restaurants, night clubs and art galleries.

Getting Around
