The Kuala Lumpur International Airport Malaysia, is the largest and busiest airport in Malaysia. And the 23rd busiest airport by passenger traffic in the world. It's Malaysia's main international airport and handles over 50 million passengers and about 710,186 tonnes of carbon in a year. It has three parallel runways which are capable of handling 78 landing per hour, aircraft movements are controlled by three Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower, rising as high as 133.8 m and holding the honors of the tallest ATC towers in the world.

TERMINALS

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport has two passenger terminals. The first and main terminal is known as KLIA 1 and the second terminal is called KLIA 2. The journey between KLIA 1 and KLIA 2 is mainly through transit trains or KLIA Ekspres, it costs RM2 and takes approximately 3 minutes.

KLIA 1: this first terminal is divided into three, the main terminal, the Satellite terminal and the contact pier and you can connect one to another by trains. The main terminal building (MTB) has a total of 26 check-in counters, with multiple check in services and self check facilities available for passengers departing and arriving. The contact pier which is an extension of the main terminal building has gates labelled A, B, G and D. Gates A and B are for local flights while gates G and D are for international flights. The contact pier is used mainly by the Malaysian Airlines. Satellite terminal has a total of 27 gates for both arriving and departing international flights and it connects to the other terminals by aerotrains.

AIRPORT TO CITY

You can easily find your way from the airport to the city via KLIA Ekspres. The city of Kuala Lumpur is only 28 minutes from the KL international airport. You can also get down to Mitsui Outlet Park for some shopping and fun, it's only 6 km from the airport.
