Hemingway-Themed Dining Experience in Little Havana

Duration

clock2 hours 30 minutes

Overview

Little Havana was recently listed as an official “national treasure” of the United States by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Nestled in the heart of the city’s downtown area and only a short drive from Miami’s famed South Beach, the neighborhood is full of interesting cultural landmarks. Beyond that, Little Havana serves the finest and most authentic Cuban food that Florida has to offer.

Mojitos at the World-Famous Ball & Chain
This place isn’t La Bodeguita in Cuba, Hemingway’s favorite watering hole, but the drink at this local taverna is as close as you can get without a passport. Ball & Chain has a history as rich and vibrant as the neighborhood of Calle Ocho.

Full Dinner at Sala’o Cuban Restaurant
The name Sala’o was born from an Ernest Hemingway novel, The Old Man and the Sea. Hemingway spent many years in Cuba, which drove owners Mena and Rodriguez to create an eatery to pay homage to the writer.
