Las Grutas Tolantongo, or the Tolantongo caves, are a collection of hot spring pools built into a cliff in Hidalgo, México. They are located three tofour hours northeast of Mexico City in a picturesque canyon.
The Tolantongo Caves are divided into two main areas; the first one has a cave and a tunnel behind a waterfall. The thermal waters in the cave are fed by a spring that is born in the interior of the mountain, with temperatures of 35º to 38º degrees and that provide a wonderful view.
The other area is called "Paradise", a site with waterfalls and natural pools and a slide. Also located here is a zip line with more than 1,800 meters in length (not included in the rate). The site does not have an ATM and all payments must be made in cash (mexican pesos).
