Mt. Longonot park day tour is a short drive, only 70km from Nairobi to the North West. The Longonot mountain is a fascinating feature located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley with an awesome sight of its peak towering at 2776m. The mountain has a 500m deep strato volcano crater filled with green vegetation and is 3km wide. The hiking distance from the gate to the rim and back is about 12 km and takes about 3-5 hrs depending on your level of fitness.
Mt Longonot climb is an exciting adventure through steep slopes and dusty valleys with a few rest stops for great panoramic views of the bottom of the mountain. Some wild animals can also be seen grazing around.
The proximity of Mt. Longonot to Nairobi and the relatively cheaper entry fees make this park very popular for those looking for a full filling day away from the city hustle.
