Every year, millions of tourists come to these areas to admire the spectacular Pamukkale, a natural phenomenon which has become renowned globally but is in danger of vanishing. Even in Roman times, the site was renowned as Hierapolis - a luxurious spa - where visitors can still bathe in one of its baths. Not far away from the ancient bathhouse lies Aphrodisias, an old-world city famed for its carving workshops and services provided by priestesses devoted to Aphrodite.
