    The Salt Cathedral is an edifice constructed inside the salt mines of Zipaquirá in Cundinamarca department. Colombia.

    The architectural and artistic design of this modern day Salt Cathedral came from Bogota architect Roswell Garavito Pearl who won over 44 other proposals at a competition held by Colombian Society Of Architects in 1990 while technical engineering direction was carried out by Bogota engineer Jorge Enrique Castelblanco Reyes.

    It houses an abundance of art pieces mostly consisting sculptures made out of salt and marble spread throughout its interior that gives off a strong religious atmosphere attracting visitors.
