Overview

Alberobello is the fantastic land of Trulli, typical houses, declared heritage of humanity, UNESCO 1966.
Like primitive people’s houses, the Trulli have the typical cylindrical shape topped by a cone, but they are the only ones built entirely of stone. The roofs are embellished with decorative spire, which close the top of the cone and often evoke the belonging family.
By contrast, there are mysterious lime-drawn symbols on the roof’s tiles
The Aia Piccola distri preserved the aspect of the old borough; the name refers to the presence of a public barnyard, where once took place the grain and legumes threshing.
The Monti district, emerges over a hill; at its summit there is Saint Antonio church, a simple Trullo-shaped building opened to the worship in June 1927.
Here, there are the most primitive Trulli, which you can visit internallySome of them, host touristic facilities and traditional workshop where artisans masterfully shape stones, tissue and finest hand-painted pottery.
