The State A.S. Pushkin museum complex was founded in 1957 on the territory of the former urban mansion belonged to the family Khruschev-Selezniov on Prechistenka street. It is an amazing building of the early 19th century. This historic mansion houses the permanent exhibitions "Pushkin and His Era" and "Pushkin's Tales", exhibition halls, a reading room, concert and conference halls.
The permanent exhibition "Pushkin and His Era" is presented in 15 halls of the main house of the estate, it is created according to the biographical principle. This exposition tells about the life and work of the poet, about his contemporaries and main characters of his literary works, about the culture and life of Pushkin's time. You will see about 4,000 portraits, books, manuscripts, and objects of decorative and applied art. Many of them once belonged to people from Pushkin's entourage.
