Accompanied by our authorized guide we shall explore ruins belonging to Villa di Poppea situated in Oplonti which is roughly 5 km away from Pompeii.
The complex could have belonged to Poppaea Sabina who was second wife to Emperor Nero or his family's estate based on an inscription painted on amphora mentioning Sucundus; one his slaves or freedmen.
This huge residential complex from Roman era gained fame due its preservation as it still holds numerous mosaics and frescoes. The villa overlooked sea directly from garden area surrounded by Mount Vesuvius. One major attraction was large swimming pool wherein abundant archaeological discoveries as well marble statues were found. Along pool side you can visit guest rooms that have private gardens decorated with remarkable paintings.
