Asahiyama Zoo is one of the most popular zoos in Japan, with special enclosures that allow visitors to get close to seals, polar bears, and chimpanzees. The red panda's suspension bridge and underwater penguin tunnel are big hits with kids. Furano and Biei are famous for their fields of flowers, which seem to stretch out forever. All kinds of flowers bloom in Furano but the purple fields of lavender are a must-see in summer.
