Bangkok Canal Tour with Longtail Boat - take pleasure in a 1-hour long tail boat ride in Bangkok. Meet your guide at the River City Shopping mall and explore the old city of Thonburi that used to be an autonomous province until it was amalgamated with Bangkok back in 1971. Spot many of the traditional small waterways and klongs still present there and get a glimpse of the local way of living that is rarely seen from other parts of town.
In times past, numerous klongs (canals) cut through the Thai capital known as Bangkok which earned it its nickname "Venice of the East". These watercourses were utilized for transportation and floating markets but also for sewage disposal. Nowadays most khlongs in Bangkok have been filled up though Thonburi's side (covering areas west from Chao Phraya River) still holds several larger ones.
