BazArt: Explore this historical Malay quarter on a street art audio walking tour

Duration

clock50 to 180 minutes

Overview

Walk the streets of Woodstock/Salt River with a local tour guide and discover over 100 beautiful street art pieces from world-renowned local and international artists. During the tour, our audio local guide will tell you to look beyond the wall and see the impact of public art on the community, on the kids, on the artists.

Public art, street art and murals have a direct impact on creating jobs for artists, tour guides, little shops, and an even more powerful indirect impact. It creates a safer and cleaner neighbourhood and more cohesion and inclusion among the residents. Because behind each wall there is an educational message, it opens debates and learning about world issues.

Meet at a coffee shop run by old orphans, walk around the Salt River/ Woodstock neighbourhood - a short 10 minutes drive from Cape Town city centre - and meet with locals and learn about the Cape Malay culture specific to Cape Town ( and rich in history)
