Beng Mealea

Duration

Overview

Beng Mealea, located about 60 kilometers from Siem Reap, was built in the middle of the 12th-century, with later additions made during the reign of King Suryavarman II and dedicated to Hinduism.

The sprawling jungle covers over a 1-square kilometer of the temple, which is largely overrun by vegetation. You’ll have time for an in-depth exploration of this temple, taking an unusual route to see parts of its ruins that are seldom visited.

The temple is now even more accessible than ever, though you can scramble over the tumbled blocks and traverse its walls to see more if you so wish.
