The Museum Island in Berlin is one of the largest contiguous museum complexes in the world and consists of 5 museums. The museums were built between 1830 and 1930 on the so-called Spree Island. The museums have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and can only be compared to the Louvre in Paris.
