Candombe Vivo Tour

Duration

clock2 hours

Overview

In the walk you will get to know the traditional South Neighborhood of Montevideo starting from the Salvo Palace, where there is time to have a coffee in an apartment while, through various videos, you begin to know the history of Candombe, declared by UNESCO Patrimony of the Humanity.

You go up to the Salvo Palace viewpoint to recognize the territory that is going to be traveled and approach what was Colonial Montevideo, when your port was the only one authorized to "import" enslaved Africans.

From the Plaza Independencia you walk through the territory and its history, culminating in the rehearsal of one of the main comparsas of the Montevidean carnival or participating in a percussion workshop at the Cultural Center of the neighborhood.
