Overview

In Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula is a well-known natural feature. It's a stunning rocky peninsula that stretches 30 kilometers from Table Mountain to the southernmost tip of Cape Town.

The peninsula is located inside Table Mountain National Park, which is famous for its tremendous biodiversity.

The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve sprawls across the rocky bluff. It's a protected natural reserve with antelope, the endangered Cape mountain zebra, and other unusual animal species. The reserve is also a sanctuary for maritime birds, with 250 documented bird species.

Cape Point marks the extreme tip of the Cape Peninsula. It's a well-known landmark that is sometimes misidentified as Africa's southernmost point. On Cape Point, there are two national historic monuments dedicated to the world's greatest famous explorers: Bartolomeu Dias and Vasco da Gama
(who was the first European explorer to round Cape Point in 1488).
