Christmas and New Year’s in Moscow

Duration

clock2 hours

Overview

Are you excited for the holidays- We are! One of the best places for this season is in Moscow, Russia. Let me give you a little background information. We have different names to celebrate according to our traditions. In this part of the world, Christmas is tied with New Year’s, so the two holidays are in alliance with each other. In Russia, a Christmas tree is called a yolka, which is a New Year's tree. Russians are great on gift-giving and big family feasts, so instead of New Year’s fairs, they have Christmas fairs. The Christmas Fair is one of the biggest festivals in the whole country.
The Biggest Festival Russians Hold is “Journey into Christmas,” which holds old-fashioned Russian traditions and new ideas for all ages. The best part is that entry is free! In Moscow, each district from December 18th till January 14th takes part in a fantastic festival! There will be everything from concerts to street shows, traditional food, and fun contests.
