Overview

    Starting from Val Fondillo we will go through hidden paths, going to hills from which to enjoy breathtaking views. Streams, ancient drinking troughs and a luxuriant flora will be the frame of the tour, arriving at an ancient stazzo, a place where sheep and dogs stop at night.
    We will be able to meet these wonderful flocks, accompanied by guardian dogs to reach new pastures. Beeches, firs, oaks, chestnut trees have been growing for centuries in this almost wild environment: they offer the ideal habitat for wolves, bears, deer, foxes and many other species of mammals present in these woods. Numerous species of birds and birds of prey such as hawks, buzzards, kestrels and eagles also hover in a clear sky above these mountains
    But do not be afraid, because in the Abruzzo National Park the park guards and the foresters guarantee absolute safety, therefore no accidental direct contact can occur with these wonderful animals to be observed in peace in their uncontaminated habitat

What to Expect

    This is an oasis of greenery and uncontaminated nature, where the Tiber opens up to form Lake Corbara. Moving by bike is in perfect harmony with the environment, the vegetation has remained intact for centuries. The territory is covered by oak and chestnut trees, centuries-old woods with constantly changing views. In the hilly areas there are vineyards, olive groves and chestnut trees. On the reliefs there are wild boars, fallow deer and roe deer. Numerous species of birds nest along the shores of Lake Corbara and Alviano, including the kingfisher, the peregrine falcon, the gray heron and the buzzard. We will go to admire two medieval castles, built above beautiful views, in places full of history and art. Finally we reach the Freddano estate, an extraordinary organic winery that we will visit among vineyards and olive trees, and then have an excellent tasting of the organic wines produced here together with platters of typical local products. A truly unforgettable experience
