Duration

clock6 hours

Overview

The Wind River has a rich cultural heritage and precarious colonized history. Explore the town of Dubois, the badlands outside of town and learn about the Wind River Indian Reservation, and the issues that are shaping land, water, and recreational uses along this historic waterway. This stretch of the Wind River is rarely floated. We will travel through Fish Canyon and stop for a short hike to explore the Dubois Badlands. We will hike up the remote Carson Draw, accessible only by water or obtaining permission to cross private land. Dubois is located 1.5 hours from Yellowstone National Park and 2 hours from Jackson Hole Wyoming. Dubois Wyoming offers nightly music and events all Summer long. A number of beautiful cabins are available for rent all along the river and the Absaroka Mountains offer seemingly endless views of dramatic vistas. If you are looking for a unique river rafting experience, this is it.
