    It’s a pleasure to welcome to Silk Road Armenia Travel Agency.

    During this tour we will visit:
    • Saghmosavank Monastery wich is located in the village of Saghmosavan in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. Saghmosavank was a significant center for quality scholarship and calligraphy, with an established medieval higher structure of schooling.
    • Hovhannavank monastery (5th-14th cc.) is a wonderful example of Armenian Apostolic Church architecture, perched atop the Kasakh River in the village of Ohanavan.
    • Amberd - the 7th century fortress located on the slopes of Mount Aragats in Aragatsotn province. Located 50 km north of Yerevan, the fortress was built to protects its inhabitants and people living in the area against invadors. Amberd is located at an elevation of 2,300m above the sea level and its name means a “fortress in the clouds”.

What to Expect

    Our tour will be super sweet. First we will visit the Gourmet Durme chocolate factory, get acquainted with the history of chocolate, watch the work of the factory and try the most delicious chocolate. Then we will visit the Sagmossavank Monastery, which is located on the edge of the Kasakh gorge, which makes the landscape simply fantastic. We will continue our trip to Ohanavank, a medieval monastery complex located on the right bank of the Kasakh River, in the eastern part of the village of Ohanavan․ It was an outstanding spiritual and cultural center of medieval Armenia. We will visit the monument to the Armenian alphabet. After that we will head to the medieval mysterious fortress of Amberd (7th-13th centuries AD), which is built on the slope of Mount Aragats (4091 meters above sea level). From here you can see two mountains at once – Aragats and Ararat.
