Overview

In this second leg of the El Dorado expedition, your tour kicks off at Plaza Bolivar, where you will gain insight into the history of the Libertadores and what was once a singular nation - Nueva Granada (now comprising Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panamá and Venezuela). Your guide Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada then escorts you to Plazoleta del Rosario to view his statue. You get to learn about the clandestine expeditions and escapades that took place during their trek across the Andes. Ultimately your journey culminates in finding incontrovertible evidence for the truth behind the legend of El Dorado when you make it to The Museum of Gold, where an awe-inspiring collection of pre-Columbian art lies in store for you. Therein also lie revelations concerning ritualistic practices and secrets of a bygone civilization that had lived among these mountains before colonization.
