The origin of São Miguel island is here – in Nordeste.
This is the eastern part of São Miguel Island, one of the most unique and remote places of the island that has around 3.5 million years old with the highest point of the Island – Pico da Vara.
Nordeste is the house of one of the most well-known birds in the Azores – the Azorean Bulfinch, a recovering species that was once almost extinct. Here is also the located the Tronqueira Forest that is home for endemic fauna and flora. This part of the Island is astonishing and pure. Here you can breathe nature and feel small.
Waterfalls, amazing viewpoints to watch the sunrise, beautiful views over the coastlines, deep valleys, and the Ocean as your background. Definitely a place to visit.
