Duration

clock5 hours

Overview

Meet your host Aurelio at his home and walk to the local farmer’s market in the Pomposa square. This is an open-air organic market where locals shop. Walk through the market and explore local and regional produce sold by farmers from the region, and purchase a few ingredients that you will use during your cooking class.

Back home, join Aurelio and his mother Roberta (or family friend Laura) in their small but charming traditional kitchen to learn to cook a typical Modena meal from family recipes. Your hands-on cooking class will last about two hours, and you will cook three different dishes from scratch. Learn about the tips and techniques involved in making a typical Bolognese pasta, a traditional side dish and a dessert like zuppa inglese (egg cream with chocolate and liquer dipped biscuits) or crostata di amerene (sour cherry tart, a typical regional dessert). Once you're done cooking, you will sit down at the table to share the meal you helped prepare with Roberta and her sons.
