Overview

Join this island-studded Atlantic Ocean return ferry journey across Roaring Water Bay on the Cork coastline to visit remote Cape Clear Island and experience this Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) island’s culture and life of old.
Arriving at the north harbour on Cape Clear Island, a shuttle bus service is provided to Cape Clear Heritage Centre, where you can explore the history of both the Island and the interactive Fastnet Display about the Fastnet Rock. On the way back to the harbour we stop along the way to visit the memorial on the Island to the 1979 Fastnet Yacht Race Disaster. Then spend some free time exploring this Gaeltacht Island, learning about the island’s culture, the islander life, including old traditions and traditional farming. Discover the island’s ancient standing stones, Napoleonic Tower, Dún an Óir Castle and 12th century church. See the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse in the distance on one of the walking trials or enjoy lunch at one of the island’s bars and restaurants.
