The visit to the terraces also allows you to discover some secrets and curiosities about the Cathedral of Florence, such as the large ox head that can be seen from the terrace overlooking the side of Via dei Servi. It is certainly a tribute to the animals that helped build the Duomo, but for many it is also the symbol of a story of love and betrayal, which took place during construction.
From the 32 meters of height of the terraces of the Cathedral, it is possible to admire the precious marble details of the large rose window on the facade: up close they almost seem like polychrome marble embroidery, a real show. Just as it is spectacular to see the marble funnel on the cathedral floor for the first time!
Access to the terraces of the Duomo also takes place through a secret passage, not visible to visitors: it is a door hidden in the wall right next to the Porta della Mandorla. Impossible to see if you don't know where it is!
