Fort Cochin Cycling Tour

Duration

clock3 hours

Overview

After a short safety briefing, you will start your day’s cycling through the narrow lanes and spice markets moving towards Mattancherry. The architecture along the busy streets in this enclave is very clearly European, with fine houses built by wealthy British traders of the colonial era, and the Dutch cottages with split farmhouse doors. We have a few surprise stops en-route which makes this a very exciting ride. After you reach Mattancherry, you will cycle via Mattancherry Palace, Jew street and the synagogue. Then, you resume cycling and move towards the Santa Cruz Basilica. This is a very attractive church constructed in the gothic style and was originally built by the Portuguese. From there you will pedal towards the Princess Street which has a quaint old-world charm to it. As you approach the end of the tour you arrive at the unique Chinese Fishing nets whose history and drama are remarkable.
