Great Northern PA Ice Age Journey (full day, your group of 1-13)

Duration

clock8 to 12 hours

Overview

A Photo & Driving Journey... For the last 2.6 million years, northern Pennsylvania was mostly a hellish wasteland. Mile thick ice, bone dry tundra, few trees. Multiple waves of ice were punctuated by short warm interglacial periods like the present. Paleo-Indians enter over 16,000 years ago and spread across the continent. Join the Mountain Man and Gemma "Pocahontas" as we bring to life the frigid expanse of Ice Age North America.

Bring your vehicle for a few stops in northern PA for the beauty of its destructive power. Giant holes in the land. Huge torrents of meltwater created bizarre shapes in the rivers. The world's largest ice sheet scoured the land, bulldozing a 3000+ mile long hill of glacial till. Great boulders were left as sentinels. Pristine glacial lakes and acid bogs. Paper flat outwash plains and dunes of glacial sand. Strange giant animals dominated the land and then vanished.
