Duration

clock4 to 5 hours

Overview

Edinburgh is well known as one of the great cities for atmosphere and romance – but our roots go hugely deep, and even to this day there are wonderful secret and off-the-beaten track places that take us back into our mystical and mysterious remote past. These are the places we'll discover on this unique hybrid EV tour, which includes several sites visited by no-one else.

We begin in Holyrood Park in central Edinburgh, hiking for 5 minutes to the ruins of St Anthony's Chapel and its adjacent holy well, used historically for healing ceremonies. Continuing to ancient Duddingston, we'll see medicinal herbs in the gorgeous Secret Garden, then proceed via Craigmillar Castle to the Balm Well of St. Catherine, which produces a naturally oily water, used for many centuries to treat skin problems. After inclusive refreshments, we journey underground, into the incredibly mysterious carved caverns of Gilmerton Cove, before taking in the Caiystane, a sacred stone thought to be 5000 years old.
