Ephesus was the second-largest city in the Roman Empire, with over 250.000 people living there in the 1st BC. It trailed only Rome as the world's greatest metropolis at that time and was also a major harbor city. The monumental city was constructed entirely out of marble, and it boasted the largest amphitheater in the ancient world with capacities of up to 25.000 spectators! Other sites of interest include Goddess Nike, Local pharmacy, Hadrian Gate, Library of Celsus (the third largest library), Marble Street and Harbor Street.
