Overview

    The Altai Mountains are located in western Mongolia and borderline of China, Russia and Mongolia. The Altai Mountains are home to a diverse fauna, because of its different habitats like steppes, northern taigas and alpine vegetation. Steep slopes are home to the Siberian ibex whereas the rivers the rare argali or mountain sheep. The highest peak Khuiten Peak at 4374 m above sea level. The national park is located in Ulgii province in western Mongolia. Besides the Khuiten peak massif includes Nairamdal, Malchin Burged (eagle) and Ulgii peak (motherland).
