Hue City Tour - Full day with lunch

Duration

clock7 to 8 hours

Overview

Hue was conquered in the fourteenth century by the Viets of the north. In 1687 the Viets made Hue its capital, continuing its expansion in the Cham territory. It continued to be the capital under the Nguyen dynasty being ruled by thirteen emperors, the last of whom ruled until 1945. Today Hue remains the intellectual capital of Vietnam, as it has 12 universities. Hue knew how to maintain his cultural identity, while other cities were accommodating to foreign influences. The Nguyen dynasty left a unique legacy, an imperial city of citadels, palaces, tombs and temples established in the peaceful countryside bordering the Perfume River. Today Hue remains a quiet village and quiet streets around the Perfume River.
