Overview

Leipzig is a city in the federal state of Saxony in eastern Germany. In the center of the Market Square stands the building of the old Renaissance town hall, which now houses the exposition of the Museum of the History of the City. One of the attractions of Leipzig is the grave of composer Johann Sebastian Bach in the Gothic church of St. Thomas. The latter is also famous for its boys choir. Another well-known church - the Church of St. Nicholas - in 1989 served as a meeting place for participants in the "Monday demonstrations" who overthrew the communist regime in the country.
