Overview

The Montevidean carnival is one of the oldest and most popular traditions in Uruguayan culture. From the last days of January to the first days of March, dozens of groups grouped into five categories (Murgas, Humoristas, Parodistas, Magazines and Comparsas of blacks and lubolos) travel the city acting in scenarios called "tablados". At the same time they participate in the Official Contest of Carnival Groups.

The table in each corner has been since the beginning of the last century the natural meeting place for carnival celebrations. It is the expression of the popular festival, tradition and heritage of the city. It is there where great popular artists have made contact with the murguero song, the candombe and all the artistic expressions of our carnival.

In the evening we can appreciate between 4 and 6 shows, you will feel carnival culture as we lived in Montevideo and makes many travelers visit us for these artistic expressions.
