I grew up in the beautiful hill-top village of Bandipur (you should see it!). At the age of 16 I became a porter but because my English is good, I quickly became Assistant Guide and then Lead Guide. I have worked for many years as a Lead Guide both with Intrepid Travel and Himalayan Encounters before I decided to become independent guide.
Over the years I have learnt so much about the mountains, first-aid, nature, local culture, weather, food, hygiene and client handling. Some of it is knowledge I learnt growing up in the Himalayas. Some I gained on government training courses and some I have learnt when being a guide. I also love to learn about life in the west from my client friends too! Meeting new people and making new friends from all over the world is a great joy for me.
