    Overview

    You will be collected by your English-speaking tour guide and driven through picturesque villages to the ancient city of Qena, home of the Denderah Temple - one of Egypt's best-preserved 1st century BC monuments built by Ptolemy VIII and Queen Cleopatra II. Dedicated to Hathor, Goddess and mother of the Pharaohs, it symbolizes maternity, love, music and celestial. Here you can explore the crypt and roof with a (copy) of the famous Denderah Zodiac. After lunch at a local restaurant we travel on to Abydos where you can admire the Great Temple of Seti I - an L-shaped limestone temple renowned for its beautiful decorations and King's List. At day's end your guide will deliver you back to your Luxor hotel.

    Stop At: Dendera Temple Complex, Qena Egypt

    The Denderah Temple, erected in the 1st century B.C by Ptolemy VIII and Queen Cleopatra II, is one of the most well-preserved Temples in all of Egypt. It was dedicated to Hathor, Goddess and mother of the Pharaohs, symbolizing maternity, affection, music and the heavens. The Goddess is usually depicted with horns from the holy cow sustaining the solar disc of the sun. In her hands she has an "Ankh" (the sign of life) as well as a scepter. Visitors can explore the crypt or ascend two staircases to access the roof which features symbols for every month of the year. On one rooftop chapel serves as home for a replica of renowned Denderah Zodiac (the original resides in Louvre Museum). The temple was recently restored and cleaned giving travelers true feeling from Ancient times.

    The Great Temple of Seti I is among Egypt's most complete and stunning temples due to recent restoration works. This limestone structure had seven grand entrances devoted to six major gods – Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty and Ptah – plus Seti I (1294–1279 BC). Upon his father's death Ramses II finalized it . < br >Famous attraction at temple is Gallery of Kings displaying figures depicting Seti I , his son Ramses II , plus an extensive range pharaohs who predated them . < br > < br >Duration : 1 hour 30 minutes
