Get ready to taste spritz, cicchetti and "ombre". The Spritz is the famous Venetian aperitiv, which, now popular all over Italy, was born here when Venice was part ot the Austrian Empire. Aperitiv in Venice are often accompanied by one or more “cicchetti”, a sort of tapas (meatballs, boiled eggs with anchovies, fried fish, boiled octopus, sweet and sour sardines, creamy salt cod and many more).
Being in the area, we cannot miss a quick look at the famous Rialto Bridge and at the fish market. The Rialto area is one of the most reach in small bars and this is absolutely perfect to reach our “top ten” goal, so we will stop more than once for our tastings. But: you will do all this while walking and all of a sudden, one of the most brilliant Venetian jems: the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Just few words about this wonderful piece of architecure before reaching the stop for the last and the sweetest of the tastings, the Italian excellence: the ice cream!
