Overview

    Departure to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. By bus you will across typical sicialian villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea. Then you will reach untill 2.000 meters where there is the possibility to walk around the extint Silvestri Craters. Time free to enjoy the beautiful view. Return to Taormina around 1.30 pm. Please bring warm clothes and walking shoes.

What to Expect

    Departure to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Transportation by Bus GT. Excursion with local multilanguage guide. During the trip, approximately one-hour drive, the guide will entertain you with an in-depth historical-geological and volcanological explanation of Etna and you will see different types of vegetation such as: citrus groves, vineyards, chestnut groves and pine forests. Arrival at Rifugio Sapienza (2.000 meters) . You will have about two and a half hours in which you can independently explore the Silvestri Craters, or you can have free time available to buy souvenirs or take a nice walk. Possibility of reaching the maximum altitude allowed by the relevant authorities in the summit area, currently set at 2.750 meters, which can be reached by cable car and 4x4 minibus. Ticket price not included, to be paid on spot. Return to Taormina in the early afternoon. Remarks: we recommend to bring with you appropriate clothing and walking shoes.
