    Peter & Paul Fortress or Petropavlovskaya Krepost in Saint Petersburg is located on Zayachy island and is the historical core of the city. It was laid on may 27, 1703, according to the plan of the engineer Joseph Lambert de Guerin from France with the drawings of Peter I. From this day, the history of St. Petersburg is counted.

    Currently, the Peter and Paul fortress is part of the Museum of history in St. Petersburg. Every day at noon, a signal gun is fired from the Bastion of the fortress, and there are many different museums and other interesting places to visit on fortress area.
