Overview

    Our tour start in Hurghada to Cairo, visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and Pyramid of Zoser, then to Aswan, visit the High Dam is the highlight here, along with a stop at the Philae Temple. The next day sees you onboard a traditional felucca, where you'll spend a day and night experiencing Egypt in its natural wonder. Sail up the river, enjoying the relaxing view as you go, to Kom Ombo. Here, you'll find a spectacular temple, a unique 'double temple' place dedicated to the crocodile-headed god Sobek and Horus the falcon-headed god. After this, a stop at Edfu Temple. Then it’s onto Luxor and a tour of the east bank taking in the vast Karnak temple complex and the historic Luxor temple. The following day sees a visit to the west bank and the world-famous Valley of the Kings, plus a stop at the temple of Hatshepsut. We then back travel to Hurghada.

    Day 1: Hurghada - Cairo

    Stop At: Cairo, Cairo, Cairo Governorate
    Early morning we'll take an air-conditioned private minibus to Cairo. we'll visit the Egyptian museum to learn more about the country's incredible ancient history, followed by the old city of Cairo. Overnight in hotel of Cairo.

    Stop At: The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Midan El Tahrir Geographical Society Building, Cairo 11511 Egypt
    The Egyptian Museum is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East, and houses the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world. The museum displays an extensive collection spanning from the Predynastic Period to the Greco-Roman Era.

    Among the museum’s unrivaled collection are the complete burials of Yuya and Thuya, Psusennes I and the treasures of Tanis, and the Narmer Palette commemorating the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under one king, which is also among the museum’s invaluable artifacts. The museum also houses the splendid statues of the great kings Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the builders of the pyramids at the Giza plateau. An extensive collection of papyri, sarcophagi and jewelry, completes this uniquely expansive museum.

    Day 2: Cairo - Aswan

    Stop At: Cairo, Cairo, Cairo Governorate
    Early morning your Egyptologist guide will accompany you to the Giza pyramid complex, where you can see the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. We'll then visit Sakkara to see the unique step Pyramid of Zoser. Overnight on the road to Aswan by an air-conditioned private minibus.

    Stop At: Pyramids of Giza, Al Haram Str., Giza 12611 Egypt
    The Giza pyramid complex, also called the Giza necropolis, or the Giza Pyramids Plateau in Giza, Egypt is home to the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt, between 2600 and 2500 BC. The site also includes several temples and cemeteries and the remains of a workers' village. A few hundred metres farther south-west. The Great Sphinx lies on the east side of the complex. Current consensus among Egyptologists is that the head of the Great Sphinx is that of Khafre.

    Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids is one of the most extensive archaeological sites comprising many important monuments such as the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, Pyramid of Sekhmet, Mastaba of Ti and the deep underground Persian Tombs.

    Day 3: Aswan

    Stop At: Aswan, Aswan, Aswan Governorate, Nile River Valley
    Upon arrival to your Nile Cruise ship in Aswan. Check in at 12:00 PM, you take some time to freshen up and lunch on board before we begin our Nile quest by visiting the High Dam of Aswan, where your guide will explain to you how the construction of the dam and subsequent creation of Lake Nasser. We'll then take a short boat ride to Agilkia Island to explore the Temple of Isis at Philae. Overnight on board.

    Stop At: Aswan High Dam, Manteqet As Sad Al Aali, Aswan Egypt
    The Aswan High Dam, is one of the world's largest embankment dams, which was built across the Nile in Aswan, Egypt, between 1960 and 1970. Construction of the High Dam became a key objective of the government following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952; with its ability to better control flooding, provide increased water storage for irrigation and generate hydroelectricity, the dam was seen as pivotal to Egypt's planned industrialization. The High Dam has had a significant effect on the economy and culture of Egypt.

    Stop At: Temple of Philae, Island of Agilika, Aswan Egypt
    This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in all of Egypt. It sits on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam and you must ride a boat to the island to get to theruins. The temple was moved to its current location following the construction of the High Dam, which threatened to submerge it permanently.
    The careful reconstruction at the current site carefully completed, painstakingly preserving the original appearance and layout of the complex and even landscaping the island to match its former location.
    Philae rose to prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. The Temple of Isis is the main feature there, but there are several other smaller temples on the island that are worth spending time admiring.

    Day 4: Aswan - Kom-Ombo

    Stop At: Aswan, Aswan, Aswan Governorate, Nile River Valley
    Early morning you have the option of joining an optional excursion to Abu Simbel, two massive temples built into rock on the western bank of Lake Nasser. Afternoon will start sailing to Kom-Ombo. Relax and enjoy the amazing views as we navigate the river Nile on your ship while drifting along one of the world's oldest waterways. Before sunset, we'll reach the most wonderful temples in Egypt, Temple of Kom-Ombo, a unique 'double' temple dedicated to both the crocodile god Sobek, and the falcon god Horus. Overnight on board.

    kom ombo temple one of the most unusual temples of Ancient Egypt, Kom Ombo was mainly built during the Ptolemaic Dynasty from 180 BCE,
    The temple is unique for its dedication to two different deities: the local crocodile-headed god Sobek, and the first "god of the Kingdom", the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder (also called Haroeris). This double dedication was deliberate. Not only is it architecturally duplicated, with two sets of courts, hypostyle halls and sanctuaries, the twin temple is symbolic of the local and universalist themes that the two different deities represented.

    Day 5: Edfu - Luxor

    Stop At: Edfu, Edfu, Nile River Valley
    Breakfast will be served on board your ship. After you will join your Egyptologist tour guide by cart-horse to visit Temple of Horus in Edfu. We'll then continue sailing to Luxor, where we'll take an afternoon tour of the east bank and experience the incredible Karnak temple complex, part of the ancient city of Thebes. We'll finish off the day with a tour of Luxor Temple. Overnight on board.

    Stop At: Temple of Horus, Adfo, Edfu Egypt
    Temple of Horus, built between 237 and 57 BC, is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Egypt. Preserved by desert sand, which filled the place after the pagan cult was banned, the temple is dedicated to Horus, the avenging son of Isis and Osiris. With its roof intact.

    Stop At: Temple of Karnak, Karnak, Luxor Egypt
    The Karnak Temple Complex is home to three main temples, several smaller enclosed temples, and a number of outer temples - combining the achievements of many generations of ancient builders over a period of 1500 years. Around thirty different pharaohs contributed to the building process of this site, enabling it to reach a size, complexity and diversity not seen elsewhere. It was after all the New Kingdom's most sacred site. The Ancient complex covers a total area of 2 sq km. The temple of Amun, the complex's main structure, is the largest place of worship ever built. It is surrounded by two other gigantic temples, dedicated to Amun's wife, Mut and his son, Khonsu, respectively Although it might seem badly ruined today, there are still many features to Karnak that make it one of the largest and most impressive of all ancient in Egypt.

    Stop At: Luxor Temple, Luxor 23512 Egypt
    Luxor temple was built on the east bank of the Nile by Amenhotep III, "The Magnificent'. With his wife Queen Tiy, whom he dearly loved, he ruled Egypt during the peaceful and stable 18th Dynasty. The temple was dedicated to the Theban triad: the great god Amon-Ra, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu.
    Luxor temple suffered some damage in the reign of Amenhotep's son Akhenaten, when the name and figure of Amon were erased, but it was reconstructed in the reigns of Tutankhamon and Haremhab. In the 19th Dynasty, Ramses II carried out major work there, particularly when he constructed a new court and entrance.

    Day 6: Luxor - Hurghada

    Stop At: Luxor, Luxor, Nile River Valley
    Morning we'll start our tour of the west bank of Luxor with the world famous Valley of the Kings, where you can enter some of the incredible tombs of the New Kingdom Pharaohs. We'll then get to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the mortuary temple of the only Pharaoh Queen that ruled Egypt. The day will finish off with a visit to the great Colossi of Memnon, the last remains of Amenophis III’s temple. We'll then back to Hurghada

    Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt
    Valley of the Kings once called the Great Necropolis of Millions of Years of Pharaoh, or the Place of Truth, the Valley of the Kings (Wadi Biban al-Muluk) has 63 magnificent royal tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC), all very different from each other. The West Bank had been the site of royal burials from the First Intermediate Period (2181–2055 BC) onwards. At least three 11th-dynasty rulers built their tombs near the modern village of Taref, northeast of the Valley of the Kings. The 18th-dynasty pharaohs, however, chose the isolated valley dominated by the pyramid shaped mountain peak of al-Qurn (The Horn). The secluded site enclosed by steep cliffs was easy to guard and, when seen from the Theban plain, appears to be the site of the setting sun, associated with the afterlife by ancient Egyptians.

    Stop At: Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, Kings Valley Rd Deir el-Bahari, Luxor 23512 Egypt
    Hatshepsut (c.1473–1458 BC), the queen who became pharaoh, built a magnificent temple at Deir al-Bahari, on the west back of Luxor. It lies directly across the Nile from Karnak Temple, the main sanctuary of the god Amun. Hatshepsut’s temple “the Holy of Holies” was designed by the chief steward of Amun, Senenmut.
    The temple consists of three levels each of which has a colonnade at its far end. On the uppermost level, an open courtyard lies just beyond the portico. Mummiform statues of Hatshepsut as Osiris, the god of the dead, lean against its pillars.
    Far from being devoted solely to her, the temple also includes sections for the cults of her revered father Thutmose I, the goddess Hathor, and the funerary god Anubis. An altar, open to the sky and the sun, was dedicated to the cult of the solar Ra-Horakhty. Pride of place was given to Amun. At the far end of the upper courtyard, on the temple’s central axis, a passage cut directly into the living rock culminates in his sanctuary.

    One of the biggest tourist attractions in Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon gained its popularity due to its majestic appearance and for the mysterious sounds emitted by the northern colossus statue at every sunrise.
