Duration

clock2 to 6 hours

Overview

Discover St. FranciS Wood, a magical spot of 64 hectares of nature, between woodland and cultivated fields, walls of pink stone, clearings and olive groves. You will find an ancient monatsery, a Romanesque church , a mill active until the early 1900s, the remains of a hospital that assisted pilgrims in the past and an ancient fourteenth-century tower. Admire the “Third Paradise”, a piece of land art by renowned artist Pistoletto, which takes the form of 121 olive trees arranged in a double row to form three large, tangential circles and featuring a 12-metre-high pole to symbolise the union between heaven and earth. Enjoy a tasty picnic lunch in a dedicated area and savor Umbrian food such as torta al testo, a kind of griddle bread made throughout Umbria served cut into pieces and stuffed with cold cuts or cheeses. We want to be ambassadors of the food excellence typical of Umbrian tradition, scrupulously selecting the local producers to tell their history and to store their flavors .
