Discover St. FranciS Wood, a magical spot of 64 hectares of nature, between woodland and cultivated fields, walls of pink stone, clearings and olive groves. You will find an ancient monatsery, a Romanesque church , a mill active until the early 1900s, the remains of a hospital that assisted pilgrims in the past and an ancient fourteenth-century tower. Admire the “Third Paradise”, a piece of land art by renowned artist Pistoletto, which takes the form of 121 olive trees arranged in a double row to form three large, tangential circles and featuring a 12-metre-high pole to symbolise the union between heaven and earth. Enjoy a tasty picnic lunch in a dedicated area and savor Umbrian food such as torta al testo, a kind of griddle bread made throughout Umbria served cut into pieces and stuffed with cold cuts or cheeses.
