Porcelain Painting at Yozangama

Duration

clock2 hours

Overview

The only porcelain atelier in South Kyushu, Yozangama, is located at the foot of the Kirishima Mountain Range.
Enjoy painting a glass for distilled spirits (shochu) and a small dish, or a sake decanter and cup in a studio with a view of cherry trees, azaleas, hydrangeas, and other seasonal flowers. Express your artistic spirit with ancient zaffer (blue paint) that has been passed down from the time of the samurai, and engrave patterns using special tools.
These make wonderful souvenirs of your trip to Japan, and the experience is also great fun for kids. You also receive a porcelain painting certificate. After you've finished, enjoy coffee and conversation on the atelier’s terrace.
*Porcelain pieces by Yozan Kawaji are exhibited and sold at the atelier.
*Yozan Kawaji developed an interest in art and cooking at an early age, and his experience grown up in a nature formed the foundation of his skill and style in creating works of porcelain that harmonize with fine dining.
