    Stop At: Mehrangarh Fort, Fort Rd., Jodhpur 342006 India

    Following a hotel pick-up from your Jodhpur City area hotel at 9am, your first stop will be Mehrangarh Fort. Perched on a 150 m high hill, its sprawl is the most formidable and magnificent fort in Rajasthan. Rao Jodha founded it in 1459 but subsequent rulers of Jodhpur have also added to it over the centuries. A meandering road leads to the from the city 5 kms below. Battle scars of canon ball hit by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. To the left is chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot while defending the fort against the armies of Amber. There are seven gates, which include Jayapol meaning victory built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over Jaipur and Bikaner armies.

    Stop At: Mandore Garden, Jodhpur 342007 India

    After lunch at local restaurant (on own), continue to Mandore Gardens. Mandore was the former capital of Maharajas of Marwar and is located about 5 miles north of Jodhpur. It was later abandoned for the security of Mehrangarh Fort. Here you will find the dewals or cenotaphs of Jodhpur's former rulers.

    Stop At: Ghanta Ghar, Nai Sarak, Ghantaghar Market, Jodhpur 342001 India

    It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh (1880-1911) from whom the market takes it name. In fact, the tower dominates the entire scenario. It is present in Sardar market (Sadar Bazaar), also known as Girdikot, and is a busy shopping site for a variety of items including traditional clothes, jewelleries, foods etc.

    Stop At: Jaswant Thada, Near Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur India

    Beautiful memorial in marble often described as the “Taj Mahal of Marwar” was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singhjill of Jodhpur (1873-1895) by his son Maharaja Sardar Singhji (1895-1911) completed in 1906 A.D. The main hall has been built like a temple where puja (ritual) is also performed. The worship of ancestors is common to the Rajput clans. Today, Jaswant Thada is managed and looked after by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust (MMT) and is open to public. The Trust is operating a Museum in Jaswant Thada displaying portraits of Marwar rulers along with informative didactics – the information serves as orientation space to understand the history of Marwar through the Portraits. Its grounds serve as a serene venue for morning concerts during music festivals such as the Rajasthan International Folk Festival and the World Sacred Spirit Festival.
