Although not well known, Palca Canyon is perhaps one of the best hiking destinations in Bolivia. The high desert environment is home to many rare plant and animal species including puma, pampas cat, Andean fox, northern Andean deer, viscacha, Andean condor and the spectacular red tailed hummingbird to name a few. This is an in depth exploration of the canyon and its environs led by an expert hiking guide who has thoroughly explored the canyon system for over 8 years.
