Private Tour - A Walk around the Edo Post Station Town in Senju

Duration

clock7 to 8 hours

Overview

Visit Senju, a historic Japanese town little known to tourists!

Kitasenju is rising in popularity as a town people want to live in. People have gathered in this town since the Edo Period (1603-1868) as it used to be a post station town; a town where travelers came to rest.

Kitasenju was the door step of Tokyo to the North of Japan. For this reason, old warehouses, traditional houses and sento bathhouses are scattered around the town, making it a great place to get a glipmse of Japanese history.

Enjoy a day exploring the town, visiting shrines, renovated warehouses and traditional houses used as cafes and also the only market in Tokyo that specializes purely in fish. Bathe in a bathhouse and drink sake in an izakaya at the end of the tour!
