Visit picturesque Giethoorn, the village that is famous for having no roads, with a multiple award-winning tour operator. Upon arrival in Giethoorn, experience this village from the water and embark on your own private whisper boat. After all, it is the main mode of transportation and traditionally 'punters' were used for this purpose. The houses in Giethoorn are built on small islands and can be reached only by boat or bridge. The majority of these bridges (more than 176!) are privately owned. Following the canal route, your guide shows you the most beautiful farmhouses. Or leave your guide 'ashore' and steer the boat yourself.
After the boat tour you have some personal time. Wander around, visit the cheese shop, the gemstone museum or try some herring or 'kibbeling'.
Meet with your guide again for the transfer (back) but make a stop along the way for a local experience. Enjoy a local beverage in an authentic Dutch 'brown' cafe at a non-touristy place along the Vecht river.
