Every year in May, one of Tokyo's three biggest festivals, Sanja Matsuri, is held at Asakusa's famous Sensoji Temple. The festival has been celebrated for 300 years, and it is a truly energizing and exciting experience watching the local men parading about the streets, carrying portable shrines.
This festival only happens once a year, but it is not the end of the world if you miss it.
